It was a frenzy.

Where were you when the Cabbage Patch Kid broke out? And did it ever, if you were there.

I was. I remember it fondly and with fascination.

Grown adults literally fighting each other for a plastic doll that came with adoption papers.

Each doll was unique - it had its own name (usually double-barrelled, such as “Mary-Sue” or “Jennifer-Lynn”).

Perhaps it was the “cuteness factor” that pushed people over the edge.

Regardless, there was something about these must-have items that made otherwise normal, well-behaved people act like maniacs. There were literal riots. It was nuts.
