When sweat pants were not an option.
There was a time when we used to dress up to travel. Heck, we dressed up to walk to the store. Sweat pants were not an option.
When my childhood travel memories enter my mind, they are inevitably filled with images of being purposefully dressed up by my mother in clothes that could only be deemed “appropriate.”
This meant that jeans, running shoes, t-shirts and similarly casual wear were not on the list of approved attire. Rather, the expected clothing worn meant a dress or skirt for women and girls, and dress pants and a collared shirt for men and boys. This was just the way it was, no questions asked. It was a big deal to travel through the skies, so dressing up for the occasion seemed to make sense.
While it was somewhat of a drag to have to worry about maintaining the appearance of being “respectful,” it was kinda nice, too. Who doesn’t enjoy people looking their best, a…
