It wasn’t a special meal. Nor was it a dessert.

I thought it was some kind of special meal.

Something sweet, because “delight” was in the title. You know: like Turkish Delight or something like that.

“Afternoon Delight,” the song made famous by 70s group the Starland Vocal Band confused me - and many other kids - to no end.

These singers who were professing their love of this “special meal” in perfect harmony, were a bit too chirpy and chipper while singing the virtues of this particular dish.

Thinkin' of you's workin' up my appetite
Looking forward to a little afternoon delight…

And so it went.

The lyrics were somewhat confusing as the singers went on and on about skyrockets being in flight.
