I loved them! I collected comic books though and knew what they were even though I was about 9 when I had my first. Many of the ads had the "actual depiction" of what they looked like. They were especially cool (if you were fast enough) to catch one or more and have on a low powered microscope and see them up close!
I wish I had the same positivity as you did Rob! I guess in my undeveloped childhood brain, I really did expect the Sea Monkeys to look like they did in the ads: a happy, smiling family of underwater creatures 😂
I fell for this one too and felt just as disappointed. It's sad they didn't market them as "Watch the desiccated eggs come to life!" As if this this fricken wonder of seemingly lifeless granules turning into living animals just isn't entertaining enough.
